This rare and beautiful period chair is from the Jimma region of Ethiopia and is hand-carved from a single piece of hardwood (unlike modern reproductions, which are frequently manufactured from soft woods). It is probably between 60 and 80 years old and has a beautiful dark patina. As with all chairs and stools of this style from Jimma, the chair has three feet.
