Fireworks and the fourth – they make the ultimate pairing. While we’ve been celebrating July 4th with fireworks for nearly 240 years, fireworks have been used to observe important occasions for nearly a thousand years. First invented by a Chinese monk named Li Tian to dispel evil spirits, it’s hard to say if he could have imagined fireworks becoming a source of joy, awe, and inspiration, no less an art form unto itself.

This week’s New Arrival features an antique Chinese fireworks launcher. Traditionally, fireworks were ignited on the ground or from custom made launchers. This launcher is composed of iron and mounted atop a single wooden handle. We don’t suggest it be used as a launcher. Instead, we’ve mounted it as a wall sconce fitted with a candle. This way, it can shed light on whatever you wish to celebrate – any time of the year!
